VOLUNTEER HOUSTON will coordinate visits to local nursing homes by volunteers of all ages. Choose either the Cy-Fair Houston location or central location in the Upper Kirby District as a meeting place. Visits will begin at 9:30 and last between 45 and 90 minutes.

THE Abbey on Westminister Visit this Alzheimer's facility and spend your time with seniors playing bingo & other games, reading, chatting, walking, & even singing! Contact Judith at 281-556-6020 for weekend schedules or Veronica if you'd like to work on a weekday.
Star of Hope Randy and Kathy Tabor Transitional Living Center located one block west of Hwy. 288 between Old Spanish Trail and Yellowstone at 6801 Ardmore, Houston, TX 77054. Houston Food Bank. This is a wonderful opportunity to serve the poor! You will work on the assembly lines, sorting and checking donated food items for delivery to families. Offers a home away from home for families with children being treated at a Texas Medical Center institution for cancer or other serious illnesses. Individual opportunities are for students 18yrs. old. Group opportunities in the Family Activity Center allow students aged 16 yrs old. Serve Food - Serves three meals a day, 365 days each year, at all three facilities. What an opportunity to encourage and uplift as you hand a meal tray to our clients. This can be scheduled for an individual volunteer on a regular basis or for a small group of 10 on a regular or one-time basis. Volunteers help set-up, serve and clean-up. Lunch and dinner shifts available throughout the week.
Loaves & Fishes
Serve meals to the homeless. Please note that hours for this service opportunity will be calculated as follows: Saturdays 4 hours, Sundays 5 hours. Unfortunately, there has been confusion regarding the number of hours actually worked & recorded.

St. Vincent de Paul Society - various churches in the area offer food pantries.
Hospitals that allow you to work directly with the patients.
Tutoring those experiencing poverty through an approved school or organization.
